University Family YMCA
Help provide food, essential supplies, and a welcoming connection to neighbors experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in Seattle. Every Sunday, the University Family YMCA provides grab-and-go sack lunches to community members outside the branch. Community Meal Assistants help prepare and distribute lunches, support setup and cleanup, and create a welcoming experience for each guest. Depending on the needs of the day, volunteers may also: Pack hygiene kits and snack bags Organize and distribute clothing, shoes, and other essential items Help guests select donated clothing and supplies Prepare sandwiches and sack lunches Assist with setup and cleanup Some Sundays may include meal preparation before distribution begins, and volunteers will be notified when an earlier arrival time is needed. Volunteer Commitment Volunteers must be 18 years or older. Morning, afternoon, and full-day shifts are available. Because consistency helps us provide reliable support to our community, volunteers are encouraged to make a minimum three-month commitment when possible. Project dates: October 1, 2026 through August 31, 2027 Can't Volunteer but Still Want to Help? In-kind donations are also welcome.
